The good news is that the content you have sitting there can be repurposed, refreshed, and revived to work for you and your business, in multiple ways, that can improve your website traffic.

Some more good news is that the search engines like changes in your website. When the bots and spiders search your site, they are looking for what is different. They're looking for what is changed. They are indexing your information so that a post or a page may answer an organic query that a user is keying into the search function.

By taking the time to revise and update and recycle your content, you giving more food to the spiders and bots, and hopefully, that results in more search engine results and traffic for your site.

So how do you go about reviving and updating that old content? Here are 7 ways you can reuse and repurpose your content.

Improve Your Traffic by Updating and Reviving Old Content

1. Go through and update images. Make sure you add in the alt text that describes what the picture relates to as well as the key word used in that post.

2. Edit the content of a particular post to update and refresh it. Things may have changed. Add more content to the discussion. Tweak the keywords.

3. Take some of your old content that you refreshed and bundle it together into a free report that you can offer your subscribers. Not only will your subscriber enjoy it but you also will get your content seen again. You can include links for more information on the topic which will add additional traffic.

4. Take portions of your content and create blurbs to use on social media. Whether its tweetable quotes or you create a graphic with the main points, you're offering value to your followers and a link where they can get the full article, again, building more traffic.

5. Create new posts that delve deeper or even become a series of articles. Expand on the topic to expand and link back to the original post for more internal links.

6. I you have a lot of information on a particular topic, create a report that you can sell that will teach and enhance a user’s experience. Teach or train others through your writing.

7. You can also convert your blog posts and content into a book to sell. People love to learn new things and if you have the knowledge in a particular topic, why not offer it and book format? The content is there. You just need to tweak it.

The amount of knowledge that people are putting on the Internet is astounding. Make sure that you're using yours to the best of your ability and to the best of your reader’s experience. Not only will they be back for more, it leads to additional traffic and sales.

Don't be shy to offer your knowledge in other ways. But always keep the content fresh and revived for the best results in the search engines so that it can do the hard work for you.
