It is easy to caught up in the social media and internet time sucker tasks during your day. While social media is wonderful for your business in terms of building business leads, contacts, branding, online rankings, traffic and even search engine optimization. It can also easily become the main part of your life!

Social media is all the rage. Wherever we go you can see people taking pictures with their smart phones and uploading them. Dinner with friends. Traveling. Pictures of their dogs. You name it and you have probably seen it. It is almost to a frenzy state. That can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your perspective.

But social media is not only where it is at when it comes to promoting your business. I have seen many businesses focus hours upon hours a day working their social media to promote their business. That is not a necessarily a bad thing, especially if your business is primarily online. However, do not neglect your local community when it comes to exposing your business to new avenues for revenue.

If you have a business that is local and online, you have to blend the best of both worlds to effectively promote your business. Even if your business is only online, spending some time networking locally, attending events and conferences can really have a positive impact with your business.

Blend Your Social Media and Networking to Reach New Contacts

Have you thought about blending your social media with your networking? Social media is in a growth state because you can blend business and pleasure easily. Tagging friends and other business owners will invite followers from both markets (yours and those tagged) to see your posts. That will open your social media channels and business to more opportunities for followers, engagement, click-throughs and so forth. Blending the two will also open doors for joint ventures and other ways you can work with business owners within your expertise. The possibilities are endless.

How long has it been since you have networked locally and shared what you do with your community leaders? How long has it been since you attended an event or conference?

Don‘t miss opportunities to share what you do with others and use social media to share your experience with others. People want to see your personal side of your business; to get to know you. Remember that people buy from people they know and like. Open your business to new areas.
